Not just memorization
For years now we have encouraged students to study for Ham exams by memorizing the questions and answers. Just go over and over them until you can pass the test. They get their license and don’t know anything about the material. It is rare for successful exam takers to remember anything beyond a couple weeks.
It is like math students in high school who take a final exam, and forget 70 to 80 percent of it in a couple months.
I try to get the students to think about the questions before choosing an answer. Seeing the answer pop up first thing just shuts down constructive thought about the questions.
My thought would be to show all question answers equally ... then have a button to show the correct answer.

Richard Bateman AdminHi Bob,
The idea I believe you are suggesting I'm very open to, but we need to rewrite this to reflect the actual suggestion. The way you've written this it sounds like you feel the entire site is designed for memorization, where I *think* you're just talking about the "read questions" section which is really not intended for study, more for reference. -

Richard Bateman AdminIn short, 90% of the site is already optimized to do exactly what you want -- help people learn the questions not just memorize, with explanations and everything, and the only part that shows the correct answer initially is "read questions".
So would it be accurate to say that your real suggestion is to add an option to hide answers until a "show" button is clicked for each question in Read Questions mode? -

Richard Bateman AdminNot having had any response to the request for clarification on this suggestion I'm going to close it; we are actually working on some upcoming changes which I think will help with the concern, however.
